Wii Sports, Zelda, Excite Truck, NFC / AFC Championships

These are the Wii games I now own. Wii Sports is still the most fun for almost anyone to play. Mrs Mcbeev is getting too good at tennis. She can pretty much beat me whenever we play. Zelda is finally getting good after I got through the first town of learning how to play. Just give me a sword darn you nintendo! I dont need your tutorials. The control of the sword is pretty darn sweet. You slash and swipe at the air with the wiimote and Link mimics it in his virtual world. You can also fish any water, and again you use a real fishing motion to catch fish.

I bought another nunchuk and Excite Truck this morning on our quest for Wii's. We got a Wii for every member of BizStream this morning. It only took about 4 or 5 phone calls and 2 or 3 long lines, but our local Best Buy had 36 boxes, and we got 21 - 22, 25, and 27. It definitely would have sucked to be number 37. Excite Truck is very fast and furious. You drive by holding the wiimote horizontal and using it like a steering wheel. Driving games are fun very fun.

If anyone else is watching the Colts and Pats battle it out right now they are lucky. This is a very good game. Much better than that dominating win by the Bears. Im happy the Bears won dont get me wrong, but it was a boring game to watch towards the end. I think a Bears vs. Colts superbowl would be nice. I don't want this game to end. Once it does that means basically football is done for the season, outside of the superbowl. What will we watch in it's place?

First Wii Impressions and Gotcha's

The Wii is fun. That best sums up my first night playing experience. I even got Mrs Mcbeev to play a little Wii sports before she retired for the night. After that I played all of the Wii sports games, and I think I like Boxing the best. Im 4-0 and haven't been knocked down yet. I got into Zelda a little, but it was getting late and I didnt get too far.

There are a few Gotcha's though in the setup process. When you are trying to connect to your Wireless network you wa nt to make sure you are using Channel 11 or 1, and if WEP is enabled you want to use WEP Key #1. They should really tell you that right in the manual.

The other features about setting up your profile (called a Mii) are pretty nice. You create a virtual person and can change the features to your liking. Ill post what I look like when I get a chance. The weather channel is pretty cool, you can use the Wiimote to browse around the globe and get weather wherever you want. It's only 41 in Vegas today.

Now my only hope is that Maggie doesnt eat the controller or something. More to come.

Im a sell out.

Yes I posted earlier about never going to Meijer again and never buying anything from thier video game department ever. Welll yeaaah. I went to Meijer to see if they had any decent sleds for Maggie and get some cash for the monday night hold'em game at Jay's. And for the hell of it I checked to see if they had any Wii's in stock. To my absolute shock they had one. I grabbed the secret red bat phone on the wall and called the local 16 yearold kid with a red shirt and told him I would take it. At the same time he got a call and was telling someone that they had 1 in stock, but then as he saw me standing there he was like "Uh sorry sir, we just sold out".  Sucks to be him. And yes I will be placing a review on the Wii soon, But for now I must play Zelda!

Most miles in years

Well just got done with 4.2 miles on the treadmill. Wow the more I think about it, that is the farthest I've ran since 1998 probably, when I was a senior in high school. Am I going crazy with this running crap again ? I hope not, I just cant bear the fact that Scott could beat me at 25k.

Meanwhile on the couch, Im watching philly and new orleans battle it out for probably the rights to go to the superbowl. And I have one glaring question to ask all Lions fans out there. What the heck is up with Garcia, I mean I was the first to run his rag arm out of town last year, but im watching a different quarterback right now. I mean he's scrambling, avoiding the rush, and throwing laserrrrssss. This was no where NO WHERE in Detroit last year. He just scrambled for a first down as I typed this. Frickin Lions.

Nike Plus and coming out of retirement

Im not really sure why but about 2 weeks ago I decided that I need  to lose some weight and get in better shape. So I started working out and haved moved along from just walking on the treadmill to running again. I bought the Nike Plus Kit think and an iPod Nano to go with it so that it can track my run data and store it for me. It's pretty dang cool. The runs look like this (click to enlarge):

Here's Hoping I stay motivated.

Cory got me the video of yesterday's flyby. Not the best quality, but it will do.

Up and Down Day

The day started out kind of crappy. Work issues as I like to call them, not problems, ...Issues. But on the way home from work I started listening to the President Ford funeral coverage and heard about the flyby of downtown Grand Rapids and decided to go see it. I got to the Firehouse about 10 mins before the 21 F15's flew over the river, and while watching from the roof was amazed at the flight pattern of the lost man formation. I got some picks with my crappy cell phone camera, but Walsh got some nicer ones here.

Then when I got home Maggie was raring to go. She is so darn cute when I get home. Thankz once again to Grandma for watching her during the day. After that Mrs Mcbeev got home early from work with the mail, and lo and behold my Nike Plus sports kit was in the mail. More to come on that when I have it up and running...pun intended.

As the Sugar Bowl started I decided to call around to some local retailers for my quest to obtain a Nintendo Wii. I was shocked when I the person working at the toy department of my local Meijer store said they had some in stock.  I ran out the door as fast as possible to get there, and what  did  I learn ? They had lied to me. The 16 yearold looking clerk laughed at me and said "Haha, she lied to you. We have no Wii's".

No Wii's.

I wanted to punch the person in the face who had made me get up off my couch and get to Meijer late at night for no reason whatsoever.

I now officially loathe the entire toy deparment at Meijer. I will never buy another thing from that department as long as I live.

I had to go buy some Guinness before I actually did punch or kill someone. Mmmmm good. Beer.

Mcbeev's iPod & Travel Plans

Have iPod will travel ?

Just kidding. I did, however, finally get my iPod. Still waiting on the Nike Sports Kit though. I hope I did not get screwed from the place I ordered it because I cant get a tracking number and amazon thinks I didnt even place an order anymore. Good thing I have the confirmation emails.

I had some initial problems with getting it setup. Most likely because I tried to get it to work with my laptop first. Should have not even bothered with that. But after a restore I was good to go. Cough cough and 2 samuel adams cough cough.

I am not pleased that Yahoo Music Unlimited is not compatabile with iPod's. Even there "To Go" subscription, which costs almost double as the unlimited subscription doesnt work with them. It's not very frickin unlimited if you ask me.  Only up to three computers and no name brand mp3 players. Meh, I never liked DRM anyways. Good thing there is a way around it ;) (Thanx to Mark for that).

After freeing my "unlimited" music, (read stripping drm craptastic technology), I am now listening to it. Music at last.

Oh yeah, yesterday I found out we are definately going to Vegas in April. So I'm trying to plan the trip for my wife and I. I stumbled across this site: http://www.triphub.com/, and put up my trip. Seems like a cool site. Ill give a final judgement when I have one.

Time to go watch football.

Happy 2007!

We had a great time ringing in the New Year last night, even though none of us made it to see the ball drop. We had a full taco bar for about 6 family members and friends, plenty of drinks, and maggs to keep us laughing.

The NFL Pool results can be found here. Congratz to myself, Mcarmer, Mrs Mcbeev, Mike S, and Lewis for finishing in the top 3. This year was either much harder than last year or we are just worse at making picks. Come back next year for another great pool.
