I'm Speaking at Little Rock Tech Fest

Introduction

I'm excited to announce that my next speaking gig will be at Little Rock Tech Fest 2017. Little Rock Tech Fest is an annual developer conference featuring popular web, mobile, database, devops and related developer topics from industry leaders. It is a fairly popular event in the Little Rock, AR area for both professional and aspiring software developers.

The event takes place on October 5th and 6th at the Statehouse Convention Center in Little Rock, Arkansas. My session this time will be "Build a Big Data .Net MVC App in 30 mins". I'm going to cover what it takes to build an ASP.NET based site that utilizes a few different APIs / microservices to show what Big Data can do.

I won't be there alone either, Bryan Soltis, Technical Evangelist at Kentico Software, will also be presenting. Bryan will be giving a session titled "Building Your Evil(?) Empire with Azure Functions". Kentico is also a top sponsor this year at LRTF. We will both be manning a sponsor booth, so come say hi!

My Session at Little Rock Tech Fest 2017

The full schedule for the event has not been released yet, so I'm not sure exactly what time or what room yet I will be in, but below is my full abstract.

Build a Big Data .Net MVC App in 30 mins

Learn how to create an ASP.Net MVC application that communicates with government based Big Data, or Open Data as it is commonly referred to. In 30 mins we will create a .Net solution that will utilize open source libraries to connect to publicly available API endpoints. With the returned datasets we will generate a quick user interface that includes how to filter, query, map, and aggregate the data. Attendees can expect to leave this session with the knowledge on how to unlock the untapped potential that many government entities provide today.

I've given this talk once before at GLSEC 2017, and it was well received. I'm pretty excited to give it again as I have polished a few examples on it.  Especially when taking into consideration that not a single attendee at the last event had heard of the APIs that I demo'd during the presentation.
