I'm Speaking at THAT Conference 2019
Introduction
Wow, I can't believe that I forgot to mention this here on my blog, but I'm speaking again, tomorrow! This time I will be giving a session at THAT Conference in Wisconsin Dells, WI. I have not been to this conference before and am super excited about attending and presenting for the first time. Apparently THAT Conference is the second largest developer conference in the region (just a bit shy of CodeMash) with over 1700 attendees of diverse technology backgrounds and expertise levels. Oh and did I mention that the venue is a giant indoor / outdoor waterpark? That doesn't hurt either.
This is an interesting presentation for me, as I am shifting gears a little bit from my normal technical deep dive on a topic. Instead, I am presenting on improving some soft skills that all developers our there can benefit from. It should be interesting for sure!

How to Win Friends and Influence...Better Developer Estimates
Let's face it, creating estimates for tasks is not an exact science. Whether it is points, hours, level of effort, or whatever else the next fad is, it all mostly boils down to what feels like a shot in the dark.
Join my session to find out a few lessons learned, tips, tricks, and strategies for creating accurate and timely estimates on your developer tasks. I'll share my experiences for creating the majority of estimates at my company for the past 17 years. I'd estimate that the amount of estimates I have created is more than 500 or so ...see what I did there?
At the end of the day, if you can create better estimates, than maybe your project managers will end up becoming another one of your long time friends.
Also of note if you are reading this and actually attending THAT Conference 2019. I will be looking for two volunteers from the audience to help me estimate building out a page in .Net Core MVC and Kentico Kontent. If you are brave please help me out!
A little Fun While Learning
Did I mention that it's at a giant waterpark?? One of the cool things THAT does is on Wednesday night of the conference, they reserve the indoor waterpark for all badged attendees only. That's right from 10:30 pm till 1:30 am we will have full access to the slides, rides, hot tubs, and my favorite... the swim up bar.
